I love creating spaces and custom art for people to live in. The surprise of seeing what emerges between you, me, and your space is always energizing.

Lewis Family Portrait

60” x 72” (5’ x 6’)
acrylic on canvas

I sat with the Lewis family for a while to zero in on the types of paintings they connected with—which parts of other paintings felt good and which parts didn’t. I asked what they hoped this painting would hold for them—what they wanted to be reminded of, what feelings they wanted to create in their space. Family was a theme. I listened to which colors and feelings went with each member of the family and all kinds of layers of meaning they wanted their painting to hold. I carried all their intentions to the canvas, and this is what came out.

Lewis TV Console / Sculpture

found object, plaster, rubber

The Lewis family didn’t want their TV to go above the fireplace, but they also didn’t want it hidden. They wanted it to be able to wheel in and out of the nook next to the fireplace. So I made them a table/sculpture to get the job done artfully. I also got to help them furnish the rest of their space to extend all the feelings they described into the whole environment.

WEATHERSBY MURAL

9’ x 16’
acrylic on Drywall

When you enter the Weathersby’s living room, a wall of windows opens on your right to a beautiful view of a lake. I painted the mural on the outset box of the mantel to look like the lake view wraps around and extends onto the wall in front of you. Mr. Weathersby asked me to include a blue heron as a surprise for his wife because they are her favorite to see out the window. I also surprised him by including a small plane for him because, as a pilot, they are his favorite to watch out the window.

EVERYTHING BREATHES TOGETHER (Queen Tree)

72” x 120” (6’ x 10’) | acrylic on canvas

The client shared with me a vision she’d had. I painted the feeling of it. It is giant. (I left the edge of the electrical outlet in the bottom right corner of the picture to give you a sense of scale.) It fills the wall next to her bed so it’s the first thing she sees when she wakes up in the morning and the last thing she sees when she goes to bed each night.

UNTITLED

30” x 48” (2.5’ x 4’)
acrylic on canvas

This is a painting I had already done that happened to fit perfectly into this same client’s bedroom. Somehow it abstractly pulls the view of the garden out the bank of windows to the right of it into the room. The massive painting above (Everything Breathes Together) is on the wall opposite the windows.

TEA LEAVES

48” x 60” (4’ x 5’)
tea on canvas
$4800

The client is a major tea lover. We knew we wanted something relatively calm and neutral to hang above her desk. So I went to her tea stash and got to work. Up close, the speckled tea stain echoes the burl wood desk below for an inspiring place to work.
